40 Years Together for the Growth of the Cleaning Industry

40 years AFIDAMP-2.png

Founded on January 27, 1981 in Milan by 12 companies, AFIDAMP was established with the goal of giving a voice to the professional cleaning sector by creating an organization capable of representing it at an institutional level. Today, AFIDAMP includes over 200 member companies, represents approximately 80% of the market, and is recognized internationally. In the past year alone, membership has grown by 15%.

Over the past decades, AFIDAMP has evolved from a pioneering phase into a structured, managerial organization. It now operates through a well-defined governance framework consisting of the Presidency, the General Management, the Executive Board, specialized Working Groups, and regional Chapters. This transformation has enabled AFIDAMP to gain increasing influence across the market and in the various sectors in which its members operate. Today, AFIDAMP stands as a recognized institutional, cultural, and technical reference point for an industry that plays a vital role in enhancing quality of life.

This compelling journey began on January 27, 1981, in Milan.  Following the drafting of the Association's Statute and the establishment of its institutional bodies – the Executive Board, the Presidency, and the Secretariat – Andrea Risi was appointed as the first President. A founding member and part of the organizing committee, Risi was entrusted with the task of shaping the Association's identity, launching its communication strategy, promoting awareness around the value and culture of cleaning, and organizing the first Italian trade fair dedicated to the sector.

Alfredo Pellizzari, at the time the publisher of the sector’s only trade magazine, was appointed as AFIDAMP’s first Secretary. From the outset, the Association faced the dual challenge of creating both a culture and a market for the industry.
